History of TSS – 1980 - 2000
1990-1994: Tool Sales and Service adds assembly capability by building small sub-assemblies.
TSS adds engineering capability to the offering providing small custom designed machines to
the automotive industry. Changes name to TSS Custom Machining and Engineering.
1995-1997: TSS assembly business expands and work also began in the medical industry with the
assembly of Patient Handling Systems for the PET gantries followed by the assembly of the PET
Gantry.
1998: Assembly expansion required the erection of a 30,000 sq ft assembly facility on the
grounds of the Woodlawn property. TSS celebrates 50 years in business with an open house in
the new facility.
1999: C. Brent Nichols named President of TSS marking the beginning of the third generation
of Nichols leadership. Total company revenues break the $30m mark.
